thanks for your review! It actually dawned on me what bit iβve been missing too: her being angry and a bit of badassness maybe?. Only Hate Me has that attitude. But overall it indeed is a grower for me too You know what, now that you said this, I realized sth else. It's not so much the anger that's missing, I don't think that's the right word (or the only/best word). She's always been outspoken and opinionated and it's one of the reasons I love her, because she's always expressed her opinions clearly, openly and honestly. That's why it's so strange for me to even think that she sounds disingenuous. In that line of thought, I associate her with power anthems as I like to call them (Are We All We Are, DMP...), WAU being the most recent one of those (I think?). I like that it makes you think about how fucked up everything is but it also helps you work through frustration and yes, anger, that you have about this world (using the general "you" here) and motivates you to put one foot in front of the other despite the mess. Those songs are the most like therapy for me, which is what she wants her music to be. In addition, I miss a bit of the rawness that can be found in songs like Try, Sober, One Foot Wrong, Who Knew, Long Way To Happy, Chaos & Piss, Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken, Free, etc. (Wild Hearts could easily be in the power anthem category but I feel like it fits more in this selection). And I mean rawness in terms of both vocals, music and lyrics; these songs are still anthems for me personally, but in a different way than the empowerment/political songs. Maybe a weird choice of songs for some, but then again I've always had very eclectic taste in music so it is what it is. π (So the keywords are: anger, rawness, honesty, (em)power(ment).) yeah thatβs it! You put it perfectly!

Pretty nice list, really close to my feelings. I am giving a couple of listens and might do a list like this. Completely agreed with the comments on Hate Me. Really poor writing and instrumental. My Signature Move came to my mind when I was listening to it, both songs kind of originate from the same feeling and headspace. She can do so much better from this inspiration, just look at The King Is Dead. oh sis don't you come for my signature move! That is one of my jams!! ππππ We are all a walking contradiction, aren't we?

Totally disagree about the lyrics of Hate Me. The verses are great and she spoke about the meaning of the song that perfectly match the lyrics. How the woman is usually made to be the villain. It matches how witches were persecuted. Only complaint is no proper bridge as it just gets very repetitive at the end.

WIGT is proving to be a double-edged sword...
As it's been released as a 'buzz' digital single it could be a contender for a 2024 Grammy (right?), however I don't want it to build too much momentum and inspire the label to make it the next official single with a video.
That next slot belongs to Runaway, which her label would be demented not to do.

I know you replied to hookedonspice, but I feel like adding something to the last comment. After listening to the album the first few times all I could think of was how schizophrenic it was. I just couldn't understand how some of the songs were there, even if they are some of the coolest on the album. But then I thought when I read some reviews, that these songs I'm talking about are other people's absolute favorite songs on the album. She doesn't only sing to "gays between 35-40", or "moms between 30-35", or "married couples with issues" lol...she sings to all of us, and this is her way to get to each one of us, at once. Plus, most of her solo albums have always been musically schizophrenic to varying degrees (" Can it be my turn now? Is it my turn, P!nk?"). soooo spot on!!

I donβt think Runaway should be a single π³ Itβs too similar to the vibes of the first 2, it needs to be a different genre. But I get why you think it would work as itβs so radio friendly, I just think Hate Me would be better! But Iβm not sure it would be a hit, cause Iβm not down with what makes a hit these days, I just think if she releases Runaway that is then 3 dance based tracks from an album and it is not promoting the album for what it is I would love Turbulence as a single but again know it would be my preference but imagine if she did a magical video to it about mental health and it could really be good promotion and for a good reason too.

I would totally love the next single to be Turbulence (followed by Runaway - it just has to become a single!), but don't forget that WIGT is getting the quasi-single treatment a lot lately, which balances things out a little, genre-wise. I didn't mention Turbulence in my above post because P!nk said in an interview that she doesn't think it will become a single, but I agree that it could work well. Sonically, it has a 'spaceness' to it that would sound great on radio.

Now that I've had a chance to listen to the whole record a couple of times and let it marinate in my mind, here's my track by track review: - When I Get There β 7/10 β albeit an untraditional opener, it's a really good song β both lyrically and musically. and I really don't mind it's not "hers", I believe her when she sings it and understand why putting her own pain into words simply wasn't an option.
- TRUSTFALL β 8/10 β this has been the biggest turnaround for me. I REALLY disliked it when it first came out but it got better with every replay. I know people have been comparing this to WAU, to me Trustfall is the lesser one.
- Turbulence β 4/10 β as someone who has anxiety, I thought I'd fall in love with this song but it sounds incredibly bland to me. Nothing happens and it goes nowhere.
- Long Way to Go β 8/10 β the arrangement is beautiful, I just wish it were longer. Oh and the bridge is very much a wtf moment.
- Kids in Love β 5/10 β this does nothing to me but at least some of the melodies are pleasant. But just like Turbulence β it's almost too simple.
- Never Gonna Not Dance Again β 8/10 β I loved it when it came out and I love it still β it helped me alleviate some of the pandemic fatigue and war weariness.
- Runaway β 8/10 β Is it simple? Yes. Do I want to start an aerobics class once the chorus kicks in? Absolutely. Even though you could say the beat is very generic, I enjoy it a lot.
- Last Call β 6/10 β The "ahs" irk me. I really like the melody, I can't vibe with the production. It's very mediocre.
- Hate Me β 7/10 β I have a love-hate relationship with this song, it's my guilty pleasure. It's so predictable with its oversimplified melodies and angsty lyrics but I tend to not care. The chorus is an ear-worm but I wish something more interesting happened musically, it sounds like it was made in Garage Band.
- Lost Cause β 8/10 β It doesn't reach the heights of 90 Days but I love what she's done to this song. I love the effect on the vocals.
- Feel Something β 6/10 β Am I the only one who always gets caught off guard at the very beginning when she starts singing and it sounds like she can't keep up with the rhythm or melody or something? The chorus is great tho.
- Our Song β 9/10 β YES, this is what I've signed up for! So it makes me sad...
- Just Say I'm Sorry β 3/10 β ... that we have to end this album on such a disappointing note. I understand she's a big fan of his but just like her previous collab with him, it does NOTHING to me.
I think it actually is a good album that she can be proud of. It doesn't reach the heights of M!ss or even Beautiful Trauma but it is a lot better than H2BH or CTMH. I'm going to repeat myself though β I WISH SHE WOULD TAKE MORE MUSICAL RISKS. The song Trustfall is a nice start, now let's get other interesting producers on the line. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.
