Ideally the world should come together....
Just as single states isolating doesn’t solve the problem for the US as a whole
Individual countries locking down doesn’t solve the problem for the world as a whole.
World wide problems need world wide solutions.

World wide problems need world wide solutions. Yep, especially there have to be talks with China, they did basically what the Soviet Union did with Chernobyl, only making matters worse. If they would've closed their border earlier, it would've helped a lot. And if Trump acutally would've closed the border, which he did not, it would've helped a lot, too. After this is solved, there has to be an investigation what went wrong, what was right, so if there's something like this again, or worse, we as a world know better as we do now. A lot of people died who could still be alive.

Serious question. what borders should be closed? where? for how long? what borders are currently closed? who (what countries) is doing things right? who (what countries) is doing things wrong?

Ughhh. This is clearly a headache of a problem..... And I hate that those in charge seem to be finger pointing rather than problem solving...

Some people say individual states within the US should shut borders too.
The US is huge..... Should New Yorkers not be allowed in to Pennsylvania? Should Washingtonians not be allowed in to Oregon? What about individual cities within those states.
I don’t have an answer, So I’m not trying to insinuate anything.
It’s more of a thinking process. What do we do from here?
Because here is where we are. And finger pointing and figuring out who to blame can be taken care of after the virus is solved.
And yes. TRUMP should be held accountable for his actions.

Sorry to be like this. But..... I hate Trump same as the rest of you.... And I know the US hasn’t been dealing with the outbreak 100% as good as it could have. But.... I was looking at numbers, and it doesn’t seem like the US is that far off compared to some other European countries.... Given, the population size of their country to number of people infected to mortality rate of those infected. Yes Trump is horrible. But this Coronavirus thread, seems like it’s kinda turning into a bash trump / america thread. It’s wearing on me a little Yes, speak your mind - there is so much about America in here and it’s making me physically nauseous. Sorry to say that. Our first responders and our regular citizens are working hard. People are isolating, Nurses and doctors are literally giving their lives to fight this. We as a country are working hard, Even if our leader is not..... This will get better. I just had to let that out. absolutely. USA is a big country in term of population. We can't only compare the number of death (but that's what we do🙄). In the News here, they "laughed" at Trump asking people to wear masks.... Until we were told it might be the right thing to do. The Americans have a strength that other countries don’t have. I love USA. Take care of you ❤️

Take care of you ❤️ Thanks. ❤️ I just want everybody to be ok. 😭 And there are numbers and graphs and data that show staying home is helping..... Let’s continue to do that as long as we can. Staying at home is the smallest example of closing borders. Stay within the borders of your own place. If everybody would do that it’s help a lot. Hope you and your loved ones stay safe. And after the world extinguishes this fire we can all start looking at who needs to be held accountable for what. UNTIL THEN - STAY SAFE.

The lack of testing in the US is a huge problem regarding those numbers. 🤷♂️ Isn't that a worldwide problem? I know here they were trying to go to 10 000 tests a day. But for example: my aunt has it, but hasn't been tested by her doctor. Just sent home and told her to go to hospital if it got worse. How do we know it was Corona then? Well, the breathing problems were terrible. They test when you go into hospital. I think it's just not possible to test every single person not feeling well. I know we all wish for that.

Still a huge amount of deaths for a small country as ours but it seems people going into hospitals is getting less and less. Now the big problem is how to stop the lockdown. Fear is when people come out again, it will all restart again.

If we could test every single person we would. But find me any country that is able to do that. The problem is people need to stay away from other people. Basically every single person should behave as if they have it... Pretend you yourself have it, and don’t risk getting other people sick. Stay home. Because right now we don’t know who has it and who doesn’t if we are unable to test them. I hope your Aunt recovers quickly. ❤️

Places that are more isolated are easier to protect themselves.
New York City is baaaaaaad. But their population density is crazy. 28,496 people per sq miles 🤯

Germany is able to do up to 500000 tests a week, dunno about other countries, but I think our number is pretty high compared to other nations.
Regarding your aunt, we don't know, and that's a problem, because in that situation we can only hope that all people who get told to go home in that situation without being tested self-quarantine for at least two weeks, and still they should get tested.

Also. drnick ... I’m totally not trying to fight. I think of you as super smart and I like hearing your opinions. I’m just lost. As is lots of the world Well, I'm not an expert on this, but the time Trump actually did not really close the border for people from China I said that doesn't make any sense if the people still allowed in won't get tested - and yet, despite Trump's lies, they still are NOT tested. So if you still allow infected people in, don't quarantine, don't test any of them, what's the point of not really closing the border? Obviously none. The federal government here in Germany is about to suggest to the state governments to issue a mandatory two week quarantine for all people coming in from abroad now, dunno if they will do that. Only makes sense if all states will follow that suggestion.🤷♂️

I agree but it doesn't happen. Some people think after two weeks they are safe again which isn't always the case. We should all stay in because we could all have it... That's the shit thing about it: you can seem completely healthy and still have it in your body 😔 And some people just don't give a shit and act completely dumb. Like my neighbours today...I can hear son and granddaughter are visiting 🙄 My kids only saw their grandparents by videochat. I think government doing their very best here though I think sometimes: why do you take that decision? 🤨 Big part is up to us now.
