Really? Isn’t it pretty obvious based on the lyrics? It’s about someone not being who they say they are or loving you the way they say they do. About not trusting someone. About putting so much effort and time and love into someone only for it to last like 90 days because they aren’t there for you like you thought. “Reset my system in 90 days”. It’s like talking about break ups and how long it takes to heal and move on, basically! “If I'm just somebody that you're gonna leave And you don't feel something when you look at me You're holding my heart, mmm, whatcha say? Just let me down slowly, I'll be okay If you're just some habit that I gotta break I can clear my system in 90 days You're holding my heart, mmm, whatcha say? Just let me down slowly, I'll be okay” It’s about neither truly being ready for each other or being too insecure and not believing it’s gonna work out. Preparing for the fall out. My best friend is going thru something similar where her ex broke up with her out of nowhere and she doesn’t fully understand why but how it was a waste of her time. Have you never really liked someone but it just never felt fully realized and it just ended or you we’re ghosted or flaked on and you kinda always knew deep down that was gonna happen but you ignored the feelings? I dated a guy years ago for 2 months and I was always crying around him even tho I’m not emotional and I realized it’s cuz deep down I always had the gut feeling he just wasn’t into me like he pretended to be. I was right. Do you get the song now? Literally my fav song on the album next to Happy!!!

I see it as the point of view where you know that the person you love is taking advantage and it using you and you're trying your hardest to let go and you just want the person to let you go cause you can't let them go. Definitely falling out of love song.

I think it’s a “don’t waste my time, I won’t waste yours. Just tell me if you’re into me or not before I fall more in love and it’s too late” situation.

Definitely falling out of love song. I see it as kinda a relationship you know you should have left earlier but now feelings are making it hard. Knowing shit that happened that things aren't meant to be, but still pushing it because hope is the last ting that leaves a human being, hope for change, for the better. And also, feeling like you have to change and be careful, walking on egg shells, to contribute the way you can to make it work, but at the same time you know that's not the way it should be like. So kinda living in denial for me, knowing it's not the right person for you, but you need it as of right now because you never know if things will be better because it feels like real love when you're not with them.

I see it as being about a relationship where both people have loved each other and probably still do, but know it isn’t going to work our for whatever reason. But it’s just so hard to actually leave someone you care about. Its such a shitty situation, I’ve been there in the past and it’s painful as fuck. Especially if it’s been a long term relationship. This song evokes all of those emotions and I fell in love with it watching that video of Wrabel singing it live and It’s a million times better now. 💔

For me it's the feeling when the relationship is rushing to its death and you can't do anything about it. You feel deep down that the other doesn't love you the way he did but you don't and can't say anything, just holding your breath and eagerly waiting for the other to say it loud that his love is gone.

And that line about the smile on their face and you’re the saddest when you see it😩👌

Off topic, but I still wonder about the writing credits. I wonder if she beyonced this and only got one after changing a word here and there (not sure which ones though) or if she actually wrote the song with him. How come she was only registered to the 2nd version of this and not already before? And how come he didn’t mention her two years ago when he sang the song in public? Did she tell people “don’t tell anyone, I want it to be a surprise“?
Wish she would talk about the writing process. I’m really interested.

I think she’s done a few with Julia but she’s not credited.

Wrabel said or wrote on his IG story that the song is about the fear that comes with falling in love with someone. Reminds me a bit of Heartbreaker. <3
