Honestly Taylor is a good artist, and makes good music. The hate is not necessary. I just slightly resent her because she is EVERYWHERE and is taking everything up. P!nk has always been a queen at touring, but now that's taken from her too. First her album, then her tour, now her tour movie, and now I heard shes going to start directing? Go her for using her name to experiment, but it's a shame p!nk is in the background (although she does need to step it up artistially).
I'm unsure how short haul Taylor is, however. It feels like she's here to stay. But then again, Katy ruled pop in the early 2010s and look where she is now.

Based on the preview copy above, I think the journalist is referring to P!nk's Aussie tour schedule amounting to 17 shows over 6 weeks, whereas Taylor has planned for just 7 shows over 10 days. According to X comments, cracks in Taylor's popularity are starting to show with the way she seemed to 'snub' Celine when accepting her Grammy, and 'distastefully' announcing her next album during her speech. I don't think P!nk is in the Katy Perry kind of wilderness yet but it's definitely shocking how a series of bad PR moments can lead to such a downward popularity spiral, as it did for Katy during her 2017 Witness era.

Based on the preview copy above, I think the journalist is referring to P!nk's Aussie tour schedule amounting to 20 shows over six weeks, whereas Taylor has planned for just seven shows over 10 days. According to X comments, cracks in Taylor's popularity are starting to show with the way she seemed to 'snub' Celine when accepting her Grammy, and 'distastefully' announcing her next album during her speech. I don't know if the touring comparisons are that valid. Taylor is still hitting way more cities in bigger venues overall. Also, she's doing larger venues in Australia than P!Nk and is doing more shows than her per city (it's completely absurd how many shows she can do). I do agree with Katy, P!nk's longevity is definitely seen when compared to her.

Taylor is playing 3 nights in Victoria and 4 nights in New South Wales, before she flies away on her carbon dioxide-polluting private jet. P!nk, meanwhile, is playing 4 nights in Victoria, 4 nights in New South Wales (3 in Sydney and 1 in Newcastle), 6 nights in Queensland, and additional nights across other Australian states. And while Taylor is being more efficient with her time by playing less often and in bigger venues, any attendee who values good sound knows that the larger the venue, the poorer the experience. Anyway, the touring comparisons are absolutely valid when you also consider how record-breaking P!nk's Australian shows have been ever since her 2007 IMD tour. IYKYK!

Note that I am not a fan of Taylor Swift, so it can tint my jugement !!!
Obviously, right now, the Taylor Swift phenomenon is bigger than anything else. But I have the impression that everything that comes from her is more reported in the media, over-analyzed. If everyone keeps saying "wow, it’s a phenomenon" as soon as she lifts a finger, it’s sure to create a hype. Her tour is covered in local newspapers (I live in Quebec). They are following her shows in Argentina, Japan, and now Australia. It makes no sense. No other artist gets that attention. I read recently that there was a "swiftposium" in Melbourne, in a local newspaper. It’s a little intense.
Generally, when I read articles about Taylor Swift, the words that define her are power, influence, control, economic impact, money, record breaking (often related to money) While what defines Pink is rather authenticity, family, children, strength, vulnerability, her political views, opinions...
Pink will never receive as much attention because she probably doesn't want it

Not true. P!nk deserves WAY more love than Taylor Swift.
I'm glad P!nk's nothing like Taylor and I thank god she won't ever be like Taylor.

I doubt anyone in the audience at a Taylor Swift show is worried about the sound quality. Heck, in the videos I have seen, all you can hear are her fans/kids screaming the lyrics at the top of their lungs. They are having a blast in their own way and that's great (though it isn't my style).

Both are doing four nights at Melbourne, with Taylor playing a substantially larger venue. Taylor is doing four at Sydney versus three for p!nk. Two of P!nk's shows are at a relatively smaller venue. If Taylor wanted to, she could probably easily hit every other Australian city with multiple shows as well. Also, for what it's worth, I read reviews by people saying the sound at Sofi Stadium was a lot better for Taylor than it was for P!nk. Personally I had trouble hearing P!nk in Sofi when I went, and I was fairly close to a speaker. Her show seems pretty well thought out, and that includes their sound system. And yes, P!nk has always had a stronghold in Australia. But the fact is that Taylor is also blowing out records in Australia with her tour as well, so I don't know how it really proves Taylor isn't here for the long run. Both tours are massive and unprecedented.

Overall, I think Taylor gets too much credit and P!nk doesn't get enough. But here, it may be the opposite. Taylor's tour, albums, and the way she treats her fans is damn impressive. I don't see how P!Nk is nothing like Taylor. They are both major popstars, they both have experimented with various genres in their music, they both are good songwriters, they both have voiced political opinions and advocated for change. I'm sure theres more, but the idea that they are nothing alike is definitely not true. Taylor deserves success, she deserves a lot, it just is a shame that it means that P!nk has been overshadowed.

Of course there are similarities but they are, essentially, very different artists with very different backstories, evidenced by the fact that I cannot stomach a full Taylor Swift song and have never connected with her.

Her Australian leg is shorter, yes, but her overall tour is much, much bigger. Shes hitting more cities, more countries, and oftentimes bigger venues than P!nk is.

We are talking about her Australian tour here, and I don't believe that Taylor is going to be playing to more than 900,000 attendees across her 7 shows, which is the amount that P!nk is scheduled to play across her 17 shows.

Here's the full article:
Sydney’s P!nk era: Why the superstar deserves as much love as Taylor Swift
We don’t have to choose between P!nk and TayTay. But Swift is attracting a grossly disproportionate amount of love for the short time she will spend in Oz. P!nk’s here for the long haul, writes Jonathon Moran.
Jonathon Moran, Chief Entertainment Writer
February 13, 2024 - 7:34PM
Think Taylor Swift would ever pop in for a Sunday arvo show for a local Sydney stage production? I say there’s a strong probability it just wouldn’t happen.
P!nk, however, would. She proved just that at the weekend when she bought tickets for herself and her family to a community theatre group performance of In The Heights in Chatswood.
There was no VIP treatment. No fanfare.
That’s the difference between a pop superstar who has basically become an honorary Australian, and an artist who simply has Australia on their list of stops on a global tour.
As an analogy, P!nk is the stable, full-time partner, offering us constant commitment, love, and support. You could say Swift is a situationship, or a passionate summer fling perhaps.
We are obsessed with her, clearly, so much so that we think that we are somehow special in her mind.
The fact is, though, us Aussies are just another concert, and cash bonanza, for the Cruel Summer singer.
P!nk’s the girl Australia knows it could adopt, or it could marry: we love her, and she loves us right back.
Swift, we suspect, will say and do all the right things. And then she’ll ghost us for another country, another tour, another album, another Super Bowl, saying: “soz … it’s me, hi, I’m the problem it’s me”.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with that.
With Swift, it’s not entirely one-sided. The NSW economy is set to rake in millions over her four show weekend.
P!nk, too, is bringing millions to the economy with her run of shows.
But let’s call a spade a spade.
This fairytale approach to celebrating Swift’s love affair with Australia is not the right narrative. The Tooth Fairy simply isn’t real, people.
It is not much of a trust fall to see that our true LOVE STORY should be with P!nk.
Let’s not forget the thousands of Australians that gave up days to sitting in the dreaded marketplace waiting room trying to buy Swift concert tickets. And the thousands more who have been scammed by scalpers online.
We seem to be looking through a pair of Swift’s heart-shaped, rose coloured glasses.
As she sings herself in her track, Mastermind: “No one wanted to play with me as a little kid; So I’ve been scheming like a criminal ever since; To make them love me and make it seem effortless; This is the first time I’ve felt the need to confess; And I swear; I’m only cryptic and Machiavellian; ‘Cause I care.”
Despite artists shouting their love for (insert name of whatever country they are in at the time) – we all know they say similar things on each stop of their tour.
Facts are facts. Touring is expensive, particularly in the current global economic climate, which is why the likes of Beyonce and Madonna didn’t make it Down Under on their most recent global tours.
And that is perhaps part of the reason why Swift has limited her shows to Melbourne and Sydney.
P!nk, on the other hand, is dedicating six weeks Down Under to her Summer Carnival tour, playing dates from Sydney to Perth, and even Townsville and Newcastle.
When it comes to performance itself, historically there just isn’t a better live show than P!nk in the pop space.
To be fair, Swift has improved her choreography game, but she is yet to soar to the heights of P!nk’s extraordinary high energy Cirque du Soleil acrobatic levels.
P!nk is as comfortable flying in the air above the crowd suspended by wires — singing all the while — as she is in a stripped back acoustic moment with her piano player.
Listen, you don’t have to choose one star or the other. Both are incredible artists.
Swift, though is attracting a grossly disproportionate amount of credit and love for the short amount of time she will spend here, especially in comparison to other artists like P!nk.
