As a bratty youngster promoting her first album, 2000’s Can’t Take Me Home, she found herself playing a noisy Melbourne nightclub, singing her early hits live over a backing tape. “Instead of ‘Pink! Pink! We love you!’ it was ‘We can’t fucking hear you! Tell them to turn it up!’” recalls Pink. “I just thought, ‘You are my people.’”
By the way, this part? I was at that club (Heat at Crown Casino) that night.
She turned up very late and very intoxicated after a signing on Chapel Street (that I also attended).
Molly Meldrum introduced her to the stage, and there were sound issues from the get-go.
She sang an incomplete set after saying "ain't no DJ going to screw up my performance".
