Overall I loved it....
I have some friends, who are bigger in to Star Wars than me, who have picked the movie apart so much - and have actually decided they hated it.
One friend in particular who has ready every novel, every comic, played all the games, and watched all the shows - messaged me after his third viewing and said “I wish they never made this movie”
His points were stuff like - ‘so and so doesn’t make sense because in this comic this happened and blah blah blah’
I get his point a little,
But I tried to go in and just have fun, and remember that this was our final ride with some old friends (Luke, Leia, Chewbacca, Lando,
R2, 3po, etc)
I had fun,
Some of the new characters from the new trilogy who I didn’t care for originally, I ended up liking more in this film. For example, Poe grew on me a lot. Finn I still don’t really care for, and I can’t figure out how much of that is the character, how much is the writing, and how much of it is John Boyega (I feel like all he does is scream at people).
Hux they made less goofy, which is good.
Rose (who I hated in The Last Jedi), they kinda just pushed to the background a little and made less annoying.
And ADAM DRIVER stole the show, I think, as both Kylo and Ben Solo.
I loved his change of facial expressions and physical movement after the shift of going back to being Ben.
I loved the John Williams cameo in the film.
The end ending was good,
Binary sunset on tatooine, it’s the way the original trilogy could have ended - Luke, Binary sunset, walking into the distance like an old western.
Other things seemed like they were fishing for a reaction.
Chewie getting the Yavin medal wasn’t needed (its also something that was taken care of in the comic books)
My biggest complaint, that I’m trying no to dwell on too much is the fact that the Skywalker bloodline really didn’t have a major role in defeating Palpatine. I mean, they had influence, but I wanted a direct role in it.
I also would have liked if there could have been some dialog between Anakin (force ghost) and Luke (Force ghost) with Ben Solo. 🤷🏻♀️
Bleh.
Like I said, I really liked it all, but those were my issues.
Oh also, wtf, why is Rey leaving with BB8 when BB8 is Poe’s. 😒
