Not a full review by any means but a few thoughts about how it went.
So firstly for those of you with EE the goody bag contains a phone charger, a glass ornament and what was either a pillowcase or a flag, I gave mine away so didn't open that to check exactly what it was.
Support acts were OK, whole thing was a bit rushed as the staging, or at least the bits of the stage that were bought over didn't arrive till gone 12 so was all a bit hectic meaning she was sound checking at gone 5!
This, meant when they allowed us in the dancers were still on stage going through their warm ups!
Vance Joy I think is a wannabee Butch with his little guitar but not a patch on him. I preferred bang bang romeo of the two but wouldn't walk over coals to see either.
Show started around 8.45 as is common knowledge now it wasn't her stage for this gig so a few changes. The curtain drop is gone so everyone just walks on stage so loses that special moment for me when the curtain drops and you see them all, bar Justin who you've always seen anyway as he's the other side of the curtain, for the first time. Flute player was gone too but expect that's just cos of the stage set up.
No chandelier in this show for her to swing from, the opening was a bit confusing with her starting to sing and then stopping then starting then stopping again before finally after a delay appearing in the crowd to walk through it so not sure if that was the initial plan or a last minute plan b due to a malfunction though she certainly wasn't dressed to of done the chandalier so who knows??
No moving walkway so JLAP was a little different but again barriers were too far back to have reached out to anyone. There were steps at the end but she never came down them.
She skipped Revenge, did the intro but then moved onto Funhouse, I guess as no Eminem possible it was a wise choice.
There was a lot more activity around the barriers at this show as without the usual trap doors the dancers were having to run all around the side of the stage to get to positions so it was amusing to see the security trying to decide in a split second if the person who just ran past them was an intruder or part of the show!
Secrets was also a little different to normal again due to the stage set up but she still managed the acrobatics in this
90 days was awesome thinking back to the Nate Reuss horror show when he performed JGMAR live on tour Wrabel couldn't have been more different and was pitch perfect and for those of you that don't know he's doing the whole European tour with her.
River was an addition this show, though not a huge surprise as we heard them sound checking it. Unclear if this was a one off due to a couple of ommisions due to the staging or its back but the reaction to it certainly suggests it should stay, would happily lose Revenge for it to stay!
Can we pretend was really well presented loving how they went into it from Blow Me.
So what is what it is but never gets old though 99% of the crowd watched that through their phone lens!
No GITA either but I think that was due to a curfew as I heard her sound guy muttering in her ear something about overrunning. It's a residential area and has a 10.30 curfew which would have meant a 3 or 4 minute overrun.
This led to an anticlimax I guess cos was kinda expecting her back out and the screens just went to the end credits and a finish when we weren't expecting it.
Overall besides my initial reservations having seen the venue from the outside the sound was good and everything was pretty relaxed so good gig but will be glad to see it as it should be on Thursday with her proper stage back in place
