this thread idea just came into my head and I don't remember or see any thread on this on here. we all talk with each other and share our love for p!nk. But I thought it would be interesting to find out everyone's stories on how long they have been a fan and how they became a fan.
so my story is. I was only 9 years old when pink first came out in 2000 and I hadn't heard of her for like 2 years tbh. I was a massive fan of the Spice Girls in late 90s and still am, actually went to see them in concert last Saturday. then 2000/2001 I got into Britney Spears and Im still a massive fan of hers too. It was summer May/June 2002. I was 11 and the end of Primary 6 and the teachers threw us a wee summer party instead of buying us just sweets and we were allowed to bring in CDs and a girl in my class brought in M!ssundaztood. and I listened to it in the background and thought wow! I love this! then a week or two later, this concert was airing on TV . The youtube video says it was April 2002 but I think that's either when the concert was filmed or it might have been a repeat. And I remember begging my mum and dad to let me stay up because it aired at like 20 past midnight on channel 4 lol. and because it wasn't a school night they let me just for one night lol. and I watched it and fell in love with her. I then badgered my mum to buy me M!ss and she did. then I found out about CTMH so that summer holidays my mum took me up town to MVC I think it was [same type of shop as HMV]. and bought me CTMH ………...and the rest is history lol
Whats everyone else's story? [sorry if this has already been done]

I think it's a good idea to share our stories.
Here is my story...
Back in 2000. There you go was released. For me, it sounded like TLC or Destiny's child and it was not my kind of music. But I liked the video because she looked badass.
During the summer, I decided to go at NYC with friends. We were all going to be 20 years old and wanted to celebrate in the Big Apple. One of my friend was a big fan of NSYNC, so we bought scalper tickets in the nosebleed section. Pink was an opener. I didn't know all the songs she sang but I loved her vibe, her energy and her look (I had a crush on her🙊).
Several months later, I heard Get the party started for the first time, I was so happy. I was crazy about her new album Miss. I was obsessed by her. I talked about her to anyone who would listen but nobody cared hahaha. I dreamt about her all the time. That was the beginning of my love story.
I had a new boyfriend at that time (and he wanted to make me happy). So when I told him that I wanted to see a show of Pink, he said Yes! But since the Party tour didn't come close to my home, we decided to catch her in Las Vegas. It was supposed to be only 1 show. But we decided to go to another one, then another one... We finally attended 15 shows, I think. University was over, so it was a good timing. I didn't take a lot of pictures or video (I didn't have phone at that time!!) but I have strong memories. We were travelling by bus or by hitchhiking, we often had no money for the hotel. We failed to attend some shows because we were late to buy tickets or because we didn't find the venue!!! We met so many loveable people. One of the best period of my life.
But shortly after, my boyfriend took his own life. Pink's music took another dimension for me. Her music helped me get through all this pain. I thank her for that.
Pink arrived in my life when I turned 20 years old and she is still in my life and I will be 40. I am so grateful. I'm ready for another 20 years.

what a good idea is this
It was 2000 and I was totally in the r&b music...I was around 13/14 years old I had an tv with video in my bedroom and there was p!nk..I was like whoah who is she..I recorded her video immediately hahaha. I really loved her music and her badass vibe..I was a angry teen so I really connected with her in a heartbeat
so with my pocket money I bought the single there you go..and then there was her album, I remember my dad telling me “why would you buy the album if you got that single?” haha such a stupid thing to say imo god I loved that album, I remember having a crush and listening to love is such a crazy thing all the time
and then there was misunderstood and she became very popular in my high school..especially just like a pill and family portrait..and I loved her more that ever...
then there came try this and that wasn’t really the music I liked at the time..I was about 15 or something and rock ish wasn’t popular so I didn’t had the balls to buy the album..so a couple of years later I found my friend and she was totally in to her...just like me..so we bought try this and fell in love with the album..and getting OBSESSED with her all over again
now it’s 14 october 2006 and i’ve seen her i’m not dead tour live for the very first time front row...with tears in my eyes a she came on stage during cuz I can...god I couldn’t believe she was right in front of me...I had bought a one time use camera hahaha and I’ve put those pictures in an album.
and well the rest is history...here I am..still obsessed and many shows further...counting the days till sunday...to take my husband for his first time ever show of her...his first concert ever tbh...showing him my love for her...and hoping he will go many more after this show...

I loved the Spice Girls growing up and was obsessed with Britney growing up too! I always liked P!nk stuff (her second-album singles), but not to the point of being a huge fan, though I was blown away by her 2006 IND tour and kept showing people her GTPS and Fingers performances. Slowly got into P!nk more and more... then in 2008 I loved So What (it was around the time I got my first job, so it was an anthem); in 2009, my jaw dropped while watching that rehearsal video of her doing Sober on the trapeze, then a bootleg video of her performing it live, and then GITA, and so became obsessed and ditched Britney (who was becoming terrible in her performances).

I first remember seeing There You Go and thinking the video was really cool, then I saw Most Girls and loved that more than There You Go. I bought both singles and then Can't Take Me Home, but I would say I was a casual fan. Then M!ssundaztood happened, I remember loving Get The Party Started and buying the album and listening to it frequently and Family Portrait stood out to me because I came from a severely broken family. As a fun pop loving kid, I wasn't used to strong vocals, so the bridge blew me away. She sealed the deal and I became a proper fan when I watched her performance of Family Portrait on David Letterman. She looked stunning, I believed every word she sang and I was going through every emotion with her. Try This came out and it was a little bit of a shock for the first few listens. I rediscovered it my first year in university and it became my go-to CD in 2005. If I recall correctly, that's when I joined PP the first time and I then opened my site (Try Pink if anyone remembers ). From there, it's all just pure love, support and feeling like I belong in this little family of ours. She's playing the biggest arenas and stadiums, yet I feel like I'm just part of a little world she's created and I'm so grateful, thankful and in awe by it. I live really far away (Kuwait) and couldn't ever afford to fly and stay in hotels for a show. Now that I'm in a better place, I finally had the chance to see her perform live in 2017 - after years of being a huge fan. I was scared to go, I didn't want to be even slightly underwhelmed, but my goodness, she's incredible.

It was 2002 and I played the drums in our school band. Then a person said "What about playing get the parted started from Pink?" And I said: "From what?" And They said: "Pink". Then I heard the song and I was blown away. So it started, that I bought Missundaztood and then Can't take me home. I got a concert ticket from my parents at christmas 2003 for my very first Pink concert on the 25th February 2004. After seeing her live, it happened. The magic. You know it. So it started ♥

I was in the kitchen, MTV roaring in the living room, when they played There You Go. I thought to myself while listening "damn, this song is gooooood!", went into the living room and saw this pink haired girl drive a motorcycle into her exes apartment... and that, kids, is how I met your mother Nah, but seriously, I fell in love with her cause she was a fresh breath of air with a killer voice. The video just got me hooked and her personality as well. I got CTMH shortly after (but I think it took a bit till Germany released it) and noticed: wow, she has something to say, actually. Before that it were mostly acts like Alanis Morissette who dared to talk about deep stuff but who weren't really "mainstream" artists in the vein of Britney or all her copies that played up and down everywhere. Songs like Split Personality or Is It Love really resonated. And the beautiful Stop Falling just got to me. And then, the final nail in the coffin (LOL) was M!ssundaztood. It solidified my status as "fan" because, again, it was a fresh breath of air and so risky of her to go entirely left field, but it still made sense. It was something that wasn't present in the mainstream music landscape back in the day. The music, the lyrics, the performances and interviews, her and Linda's stories about how M!ss came about, the freedom and fight for it, the vibe of the album,... it just resonated a million fold and M!ss is to this day my favorite. Then came Feel Good Time which I think is a grand, weird, party song. Love it and loved her MTV Movie Awards performance of it! Trouble single CD came out a few days before Halloween '03 here, and as you know, it's got Free on it which just continued that heartbreak and looking for answers to life's questions and introspectiveness that was so present on M!ss. It's probably my favorite P!nk song to date. Then Try This came out on a Monday here, so I had to wait till evening when I got off school to finally hold the CD in my hands, leaf through the booklet (<3 <3 <3) and listen to it over and over again. The Try This era was also my first P!nk concert I attended cause I couldn't make it to her Party Tour show. I went and it was a revelation. It was just further confirmation that this woman is incredible, which I knew, but she still managed to exceed my expectations. Welp... that's pretty much it LOL

I got hooked on the first glance in 2000 and I’ve been hooked ever since so there’s that without getting into any details 🤷♀️
