www.popmatters.com/116255-the-gospel-according-to-butch-part-2-the-performer-2496126688.htmlThe first time that [Pink & I] did the vocals to "A Long Way to Happy" -- which is a song that Alicia and I did -- it was written about her having to deal with being raped as a teenager by a cop, which was brutal for her. We had never even known each other before she expressed this to me, and I said "Well, obviously when we go into the studio it's going to be a pretty emotional time, so let's make sure the vocal goes down naturally", and sure enough she was practically in tears when she sang it, and I don't blame her. I don't think you have to subscribe to the mentality that you have to bring the person to pain to sing and give a good performance. You just got to let the song be the song and let it do the work. Some songs are meant to be taken lighter and some are not. She definitely let that one fly. *no words to express the crushing weight I feel reading this*

Hiya, Dennis! Long time, no see. How did you find out about that police officer? This is the first time I've even heard of it, and it crushed a part of me, that I didn't know about.
Of course, Pink has always clawed her way through everything, so I know she found a way back through counseling and forcibly spilling her hurts into song. But still. This news stings ( especially because some states now want to make it a felony for a woman who has been raped to even have a choice). *sorry. angry brain right now*
Haha HIIIIIII! How are you, fellow Ariel fan :* I am not sure if it was an interview or an excerpt from his book (did he have a book out? lol), but he talked about his writing and recording experience with P!nk and how P!nk gave him her notebook with old poems in it, and some were about her being raped by a cop when she was a teenager. And that's what she wanted Long Way To Happy to be about. EDIT: oh, btw, the "he" I am talking about is Butch Walker lol Well, I'm fine-ish ( further details about 'the why' in the Confessions thread with Christy and Dani). Aside from that, I am still SUCH an Ariel fan. I moved out of my parents place, finally, and now my bedroom in my own apartment is full of Ariel. But you probably already knew that.... Habits die hard.
