I had never seen it…
I had heard good things,
But nahhh, not really a fan..
Did anybody here like it?
Are we supposed to like it?
I feel like it wants us to not like it.

I feel like it wants us to not like it. We started watching it the other day, but I donno what happened. Maybe Billie woke up. But I remember I liked it because it was strange. But I don't remember it. So I'll have to get back to you on that after I seen it  Why did you not like it? |

But I don't remember it. So I'll have to get back to you on that after I seen it Why did you not like it? I don’t like the characters behaviors. The memory wipe thing on both Kate Winslet and Jim Careys part. Them both being wrong there is the same way I feel about “Escape (The Pina Colada song)”. That song is two people going out to cheat but then its supposed to be cute - like “hey we were cheating and found eachother” 🤮 This movie irks me for the same reason. Like, “fight blah blah blah lemme wipe you from my memory.” “Oh cool I’ma do that too blah blah blah.” “Oh wait I love you - isnt that cute? Blah blah” Neither of the main two characters give you much to like about them. Also not a fan of the side characters: Elijah Wood, Mark Ruffalo, Kirsten Dunst. Nothing to like really about any of them. The concept of the film is interesting, but I dont like its execution. I woulda preferred to see more real world interaction between Jim Carey and Kate Winslet and a little less dream stuffs. I dunno. The whole movie was a let down. Cool idea. But just not my cup of tea. |

Like I feel like the actual memory wipe stuff could just happen and take like 5min worth of time in the film - you dont have to show the whole process.
Wipe the memory and then have the two main characters meet again (because they are destined to be together or something)
Have the two characters kinda fall for eachother again and have more of the movie be them discovering slowly that they had this past together, little by little.
That woulda been more interesting to me.
Instead they have this instant realization from Kirsten Dunst sending out the tapes.
I just feel like they focused on the wrong parts,
And again - nothing likeable about anybody 😅

Not even saying the two of them need to end up together….
its perfectly fine if they do or don't.
i don’t hate the concept of a character wanting the other gone, and then realizing you don't want to say goodbye to those memories.
Thats an ok message.
I much prefer the La La Land approach though where the characters don't end up together but still have those happy memories.
i just cant give Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind a positive review.
even if it is unique.

So many funny parts and so many touching moments. It's a very good movie with a very sharp script. Definitely worth a rewatch to discover all the layers. |
