I dont think this has been mentioned yet?! But either way what do people think? I know it was a rumour a while back but it looks like its becoming more and mpre likely. I'm unsure on the idea. That show has played such a huge part in my life And I feel sort of protective over it haha. I really hope it's more of a reinvention rather than a reboot, I don't know how I feel about them completely redoing the same thing but with different actors.... Also..... Buffy technically is still continuing officially in canon comic form so are they just gonna ignore all of that?!? Discuss?! 😊😊 www.radiotimes.com/news/2018-07-22/buffy-the-vampire-slayer-is-getting-a-contemporary-reboot/amp/

I am a huge fan of the show, since day one, and I am honestly all for a story that is set in the Buffyverse.
There are so many books and comics on other slayers that could be delved into and made a show out of. Nikki from the 70s, Fray from the future (the comics were incredible) etc. Or just make a story about a new slayer. Make her a POC muslim jew minority queer. But doing a reboot, having a new Buffy, is a really bad idea IMO. We already know Buffy, she and her story are established. It would piss me off if they tried to "update" it with a new Buffy, a new Willow, a new Giles. There is so much you can do with the Buffyverse, so why limit yourself by retelling a story of already established characters?
What also pisses me off (besides Joss raking in money here as useless executive producer), is that they got the creator of that dreadful, awful show Midnight, Texas to handle this. Buffy is one of the best and most influential shows that has ever been created. Why choose a showrunner to do the job that has a crappy show to show for and has zero talent as writer? Bugs me.
Anyway, let's see how this all shakes out.

I absolutely agree!!! I would love to see a continuation of fray's story.... I'd also be open to seeing stories relating to the slayers that were called at the end of season 7. Slayers all around the world that we havnt heard anything about yet.... so many different personalities, religions, sexual orientations that they could play about with. Hell you could then even have cameos from the characters we all know and love if it really felt right to the story. Doing that would also introduce a whole new crowd to the original story.
I'm feeling nervous about it to be honest haha!
I also don't know whether joss would have too much to do with it even being exec producer. He has his own new show in the works I believe so I don't reckon he'll get too involved.

Oh yes, he is doing his show The Nevers for HBO. Excited for that one, but he seems like such a weasel in person to me that I feel like he's pretty meh on the whole Buffy-thing now and just tries to tickle out a pretty penny from it as executive producer. Cause honestly, if it was me, I wouldn't let the showrunner of Midnight, Texas anywhere near the Buffyverse! The show seems already doomed.
Cameos would be nice! Would be awesome to see SMG as Buffy again! Cause no matter how much I like Kristy Swanson, SMG will always be THE original Buffy!

So, it'll basically be a Buffy spin off, like Angel, or what they tried to do with Faith if Eliza hadn't had decided against it or the Ripper series where it was like a prequel for the BBC and told about Giles' foray into the occult when he was young. That's what I am here for. Not a new Buffy, we already know her story, but a new slayer!
I wonder what the situation will be like here. There's tons of "activated" potentials now. Will they bring in the "Buffy was the last guardian and banished all magic" storyline they told in Fray? Or will the First undo Willow's scythe magic and we're back at there only being one slayer per generation again? Curious how they will handle it.

I heard it has nothing to do with the original characters it's a completely different set of characters and plot. So I really don't care either way.
