It's one of those songs I've never been able to get a full grasp on. What does it mean to y'all?

Such a great song!
It was fairly easy for me: you both know your relationship is about to end, but that's alright. So you enjoy the last bits of it like you enjoy putting your head out of the car and feeling the wind. There's a symbolism of a roadtrip through the song and the "take me home" part could either mean let's end this roadtrip/relationship quick or slow, doesn't matter; or that she gives up but the significant other can fix it by "taking her home". Either way, she lets go like how you let your hair go wild in the wind coming through the car.

I don't know why but I never thought of it as a love song before. I always thought of it as in relation to God and life in general.

I thought, at first, it was cherishing the last moments with each other before one of them was leaving forever, specifically dying...
