Hey, i just came across this tribute band, pretty as PINK and it made me think about it…I remember a different tribute band too what are your thoughts about this? about any tribute bands? i’m not really sure what I should think about this..on the one side it’s great that they can do what they love on the other side it really annoys me that these bands imitate her..or other bands/singers I remember somewhere in my mind that p!nk herself said that *imitation isn’t a form of flattery, it annoys me* www.facebook.com/PrettyasPinkUK

I often experience second-hand embarrassment whenever I come across one... and this one was no exception.

I don’t see any reason why, unless the artist itself is dead.

I don’t see any reason why, unless the artist itself is dead. As long as the artist is still putting out music and touring, the idea of a tribute band seems odd to me (and a bit morbid for some reason). I can see something like Brit Floyd or a Beatles tribute, but for artists that are still out there doing their thing, no.

i’m glad that i’m nor the only one who is thinking about it just being a no go..I could write page full of my thoughts about it but i’m not going to bother you with it haha
I have a very outspoken opinion about this..but I want to be nice about it and i’m just going to say that I find it very disturbing and a huge no go. imo if you have talent use it for making your own material.

I'm glad I'm not the only one against tribute bands. I would never see one because I dont see the point in them anyway especially seeing a pink tribute act, I have seen the actual woman 5 times already and I'd rather wait and see her again instead of seeing someone pretending to be her. No one can even compare to her. Even someone who I havent seen or even if I'll never see because they've retired or passed away, I'd still not see a tribute act of them. and to be honest and this might sound awful and she doesnt know about this forum so its alright, but when my niece was like 4 i think, my sister took her and her friends to see a Little Mix tribute act and they met them backstage, and her and the other mums let the kids believe they met the real Little Mix, and I know it was harmless but it kinda left a bad taste in my mouth. I just didnt like that. I have to say though, a year later she did take her to see the real Little Mix, I just didnt like how for a while, she thought she met the real Little Mix, and I bet there are tribute acts who lead people to believe its the actual person/band.
BTW i take it its law that they have to make it clear they are not the real artist??

Not quite sure why all the negativity towards them. Yes some are better than others but they don't do any harm. I don't think anyone actually goes to these unless they already know the artist in question so no one is going to walk away thinking wow that p!nk must be awful I never Want to go and see her.
Most of these tributes are fans of the artist they tribute anyway and in a world where people struggle day to day to put food on the table and where the astronomical ticket prices to see the real thing are out of a lot of peoples price ranges this is the next best thing and the only option for some.
I've seen the real thing numerous times and I've seen many tributes, admittedly of varying quality but they all pay to have the right to perform their songs, they have to buy a licence so money feeds back to the real artist and I don't think anyone is ever conned into thinking they are seeing the real thing when they book.
This is probably my favourite pink tribute who I've seen a few times and helps fill In the gaps between tours and gives you a cheap fun night out. Might not be to everyone's liking but on the plus side your not queuing for ten hours plus to be at the front to see them
