It was her first appearance at a major award show. She presented at the show and gained a lot of exposure. I remember distinctly Can't Take Me Home being out in April 2000 but she only started becoming a household name around July 2000 and by October 2000, she was one of the biggest pop stars on earth and one of the most famous women in the world. Seeing her rise to fame was so fun. Proud fan since 2000.

Hey! She wasn't famous in South America during CTMH. Was she really big in the US during that era? I mean, chart's wise she was really successful but I've never known of her "status" during that time.

I mean, chart's wise she was really successful but I've never known of her "status" during that time. 1) CTMH didn't have a release in South America and only had a limited release in mainland Europe. Misunderstood is literally her debut album outside USA and Canada. 2) CTMH was a modest success, not a big success like Britney and Xtina's debut album. There You Go and Most Girls are hits in the US, You Make Me Sick was a moderate hit. 3) CTMH debuted and peaked at #26 on Billboard 200 but had longevity and spent 59 weeks on Billboard 200 and certified 3xPlatinum as of 2023. 4) As a celebrity status, she was the 3rd biggest pop star of the year 2000 after Britney and Christina.

Ooooh! Thanks for that! I was aware of her chart performance but I had no idea she was considerede "the 3rd biggest pop star of the year 2000". Go P!nk! And I would say that her biggest hits in South America would be: GTPS, JLAP, Stupid Girls, So What, JGAR and WAU
