This was unfortunately hard because theres 5 songs off the album im not keen on, which makes me sad as i know thats almost half of the album. its really sad Pink thinks this is her best album but tbh apart from her debut album Cant Take Me Home i think its her weakest album to date. i voted for Our Song because i really dont like it when she screeches in a song, its like You Get My Love which i like YGML but i remember one time i was playing YGML and my dad came in and went god why is pink screeching in that song. i find it uncomfortable to listen to. The other ones i was thinking of was Long Way To Go, Kids in Love, Lost Cause and Just Say I'm Sorry, all are just bang average boring songs
i feel bad but apart from a few songs im just not feeling this album. it hasnt grown on me at all and i still only like the songs i originally liked when the album first came out. no songs have grown on me since February

Now that I've spent time with it and the dust has settled, I just can't connect with it the same as I did with previous albums no matter how hard I try. The songs I LOVE are 3, the rest I am indifferent about. I had discussions about it with many P!nk friends in recent days and it truly breaks my heart that I do not enjoy it more and that the sentiment from most is the same.
Her label is making very questionable choices with this album too. If you check her official "This Is P!nk" playlist on Spotify, it only includes TRUSTFALL, NGNDA, When I Get There, Kids in Love & Just Say I'm Sorry. WHY THE FUCK wouldn't they place Runaway, Last Call, Turbulence and Hate Me on there? IT COSTS THEM NOTHING. This is not a PAID playlist placement. What are they trying to push and for WHAT fanbase?!
I think if she gave us all the songs from the studio sessions to pick 13 songs to go on the album, and she did the same thing then compared the results, she would be SHOCKED as to what we actually want to hear from her. The fact that some leaked demos are better than these album tracks kills me.
Plug the electric guitars, bring back the live drums, experiment with production, experiment with lyrics, there is no need to try and make the album a commercial success with formulated, calculated 3-minute songs. I love her, but she is past her chart prime. She will get a decent placement on release week and then the album is gone. The chances of a gold certification are slim, let alone platinum. At least give us something new. I hope whatever bug bit Miley with Plastic Hearts finds its way to P!nk. I need her to stop and think "what does this song add to my career? is it new? am I saying anything important? does it sound different?" before it makes the cut.
I don't dislike NGNDA as much as you do, but even that song is odd. When it first came out, Apple Music uploaded the demo lyrics and they were completely different for the verses. I'm not saying they're better but when she has time, she overthinks and the result is watered down. The original lyrics:
Verse 1: If someone told you that the world was gonna end tonight Would you grab a different crayon? Would you paint another life? You can take my money, take my drinks and all my fun You can my soul, my sight, my sound Take everything I love
Verse 2: I want my words to match my actions from now on I got all good luck and zero fucks Don't care if I belong If I could kill the thing that makes us all so scared We are never getting younger And I no longer care
Anyway... I've said this before, she's changed. Big time. I don't know when it happened, but even her story has changed. She used say that her influences were Janis Joplin, Linda Perry and Lauryn Hill. For some reason, they're now Dolly Parton and Whitney Houston.
Sorry for the word diarrhea, it's been weighing heavily on my mind recently...

Damn, I think Kids In Love is a highlight on the album. It's an excellent song that is so soothing and calming. Just enjoyable to listen to.

This an assumption on my part, but I think it's all about appeasing the home ground aka her older American fans, where country music is massive, as is religion, and certain family images. Maybe that's just the way she has naturally evolved since that is her background, after all, but it doesn't resonate with me. She used to be massive on animal rights, too, but I guess that's another thing she outgrew.

I'm not saying they're better but when she has time, she overthinks and the result is watered down. The original lyrics: See, i do actually really like it, its so catchy and i actually thought aw thank gawd, this album is gunna be mostly uptempo and fun [how wrong was i ] but like you said, my problem with NGNDA is its really odd because it sounds like a kids movie soundtrack song, which if it was then i'd be perfectly fine with but for a lead album track?? and it sticks out like a sore thumb on the album. and i feel bad for saying this but i did find it odd her releasing a song like that when shes 43. it sounds like a kiddy song and its like they threw in the F word in the second verse so it would get a parental advisory sticker and people would think it was a grown up song i was disappointed as well because when she released Irrelevant last year, i absolutely loved that song and i still do. its so much better than any of this album, but i actually got excited because i thought she was heading down the rock route with this album and it was gunna be a Try This part 2 which i'd be totally down for. and then i was so confused when she released NGNDA and then this album is like 80% ballads, but theres Hate Me which is the rock sound Irrelevant had but its the only song on the album like that so like NGNDA it sticks out like a sore thumb. its like she does wanna do more rock but because Try This underperformed in 2003 shes scared to, but its different now because shes more well known and more of a credible artist now than what she was in 2003 and i think a rock album would be successful now, maybe even more as a lot of people are now saying she's been boring for years now because shes sticking to the same sound

Lost Cause. I don't like the atmosphere in that song, and the way it's been sung.

Totally agree. I also think that she genuinely likes this record, and that she enjoyed putting it out. I don't think it was just an excuse to tour. What I meant in my second last sentence above was that she has admitted in the past that these days she makes new music that will work best in a live setting, particularly when it comes to tour theatrics. I don't think that this is necessarily the best mindset to be in when crafting an album, as it is its own medium, and probably why she is not known for having knock-out albums as of late, perhaps? Honestly weird. Many of the songs from IND and past albums are much more tour friendly than ones on Trustfall.

Kids in Love. Always skip it.
But I can't believe all the votes for Just Say I'm Sorry. Such a beautiful song with two amazing voices.
A taste thing clearly.

I actually didn’t vote for it as worst but it’s certainly bottom 3 for me. Love their voices, obviously hers but Chris has a lovely voice too but not so keen on the melody of the verses. I just think it’s too slow.

i find it incredibly boring, i find Kids In Love boring too. tbh when i first saw the title Just Say I'm Sorry I was excited until i found out Chris Stapleman was on it then my heart sank because i knew it was going to be another boring ballad i cant remember if ive already said this but my biggest issue with pink now is she's turning into a ballad singer. i like the odd ballad but Beautiful Trauma, Hurts 2B Human and Trustfall are like 80% ballads and i wish she'd give the ballads a rest and do more uptempo songs. Truth About Love only had 2 ballads on it and the rest were all uptempo anthems and i never got bored of TTAL and still absolutely love that album, but her last 3 albums i got bored of quickly and thats because the majority of them albums are ballads

Well, I do have to agree with you on the ballad singer thing sadly. When I hear music from Try This it's so damn good and mostly uptempo songs. Love that album. And even I'm Not Dead has just a really good mix imo. It's what's missing lately and I hope for some reason she'll change things up again soon.
Also a song like River is so damn awesome when she covers it. Even though it's a live version I'm just really happy we got it. That style of music would fit her very well too.
