How it looks like when competent people are nominated for important positions in government.

I really wish it could be a private vote in the senate for the guilty/not guilty on Trumps impeachment trial. I feel like a lot of republican senators in states that voted for Trump will be afraid that voting GUILTY for Trump could hurt their own re-election chances. I feel like so many of them, if they could vote anonymously would say GUILTY, because he clearly IS guilty. but they are scared to piss off their voters in their red states that voted for the orange idiot.
Sadly I'm super skeptical about Trump being found guilty.
but, I guess, be positive. maybe it will happen.
I'm hoping that enough of the Republican Party is so sick of Trump that they are willing to publicly call him out and say they dont stand for his actions. This is where I'm hoping McConnells new detest'ion / distrust / disapproval of Trump can sway some other senators to follow his lead. I hope he guides them towards guilty
The Republican Party - for their own benefit - should purge themselves of Trump. Give themselves a little bit of credibility by saying "f*** this guy" sadly I think they are kinda in-between a rock and a hard place. They purge themselves of trump, then they maybe lose the die hard Trumpians, and limit the numbers of people who back whoever they nominate for the 2024 presidential election.
Their own divide is coming (and already happening) already. they should take this as an "it is what it is" moment and vote on the side of truth.
GUILTY
however, I have little faith in the Republican Party as a whole doing what is right.
