It’s the first time that I’m not completely convinced that Trump is doing the wrong thing by opening up the country, even if it’s a huge risk and could as well create a total disaster, he could also be choosing a smaller disaster than what it could be. Time will tell what the right thing to do was, I guess. Going back to normal too soon has the risk of the numbers of infections going up exponentially again.

I say reel it in tighter, even if it hurts.... 😬 at least til we have things a little more under control.

But will it do more damage than the economy crashing?

Oh I know. But will it do more damage than the economy crashing? Is it that simple though? I doubt. You never know what “economy hurt” will do. If it will kill more people. But if everyone would stay in these two week before it opens, shit would be gone. But people don’t give a fuck. And most of them, at least here, are old people, in risk groups.

But people don’t give a fuck. And most of them, at least here, are old people, in risk groups. The point is, economy will hurt either way, not this way it will, if all go out, it won't. Just imagine COVID-19 would end with a mortality rate of "just" 1.5%, if 50% of 320 million US citizens would get infected, that'd be 160 million people, 1.5% would mean 2.4 million dead. And that'd just be the infected. Now add to those all the people with other diseases who would survive under normal conditions because they'd get treatment in hospitals, but won't because the hospitals couldn't take care of them anymore. And many nurses and doctors would die too, because there is no vaccine and no treatment, and there are not enough masks and protective gear available. It is a lot better to control this somehow than to let it get out of control.

It's just a matter of what choice will sacrifice which people, not about how many. I think it's idiotic to say that economy will hurt, it's the people that will hurt and in worst cases also die from economy being hurt. But I'm not taking any stand at all, I just don't think it's too bad to think the other way too, cause no one can really say now which choice is going to be the right one.
